This is a story about Ranbo.
Ranbo was lost from the Pompano Beach area at the beginning of May. His owner searched for days on end, putting up over 250 flyers and watching the papers for anyone finding a dog.
Meanwhile Ranbo was found wandering and turned over to us at the Boston Terrier Rescue of Florida. We notified Broward Animal Control, put ads in all the local papers and basically just waited. He was such a gentleman that we knew he had come from a good home, and didn't want to give up finding it for him.
The weeks went by without a word, then, after a month had gone by one of the folks at the Broward Animal Control called to ask if we still had him, as she had come across and old flyer that she thought might be him. We told them to have the owner contact us as soon as possible.
Well, 2 minutes later we were talking with a very happy woman. She had raised Ranbo from a puppy and he was now 9 years old. He was her baby and she had all but given up hope of ever seeing him again.
Ranbo's Mom had paid a lot of money to have him tattooed, but the tattoo was not recognizable, and not registered anywhere, so it was useless. Had he been microchipped, we would have had all of his owner's information immediately and a lot of heartache would have been avoided. Needless to say, he was microchipped before he left us to go back home!
If your dog is not microchipped, PLEASE, PLEASE make arrangements to have it done as soon as possible. Either talk to your Vet, or your local clinic (or Animal Control) about it. Or, Contact Us to have it done. We want to see many more happy endings.
