A serious problem that effects Rescue is what to do with our "Golden Gems". We find is difficult to find homes for these perfect companions, and wonder why we are the only ones to see what a treasure they are.
No one lives forever, and Only God chooses when we leaves this place on earth. It is his teachings that guide us to love deeper each time we realize and accept the pain of losing a loved one; and it is God's live and promise that we will heal from the pain and someday be reunited.
We are taught that love heals old wounds and time heals broken hearts... so why does mankind love the "Golden Ones" less and find it so hard to allow them their time? Why is it so easy when it is so very wrong to take a life for granted? How can one toss commitment over their shoulder without a second thought?
Today is is to typical and appalling of our society, to discard the old. Unwanted because they are are old, (some infirm) and not quite as lovely or spry as the youths they once were... there is still great value, tremendous personality and much love to be cherished. They are the companion that requires little more than food and water, a warm safe place to rest, a lap to sit in and love to complete their soul. These "kids" are always eager to welcome you home and be at your side so that YOU are never alone.
Being left behind or discarded is so unfair and cruel to the "Golden Gems". They, above all the other Rescue dogs, deserve to be loved. It is not their fault that their owners have passed on and left them behind. They know what unconditional love and companionship is all about. They did not forsake their masters in time of need, illness or uncertainty. Their devotion kept them ever faithful to provide comfort, companionship, strength and ease life's daily burdens of the ones they loved. There are empty homes and lives that could be filled, and lonely people who would be forever blessed with a loving lap of love, if only you didn't "judge the book by the cover"... you are only cheating yourself.
So, with time on your hands and emptiness in your life, and home, why not share that with a companion that can give you a purpose to welcome each morning and be thankful every night. Consider adding a "Golden Gem" to your world to give each day a new meaning, and once again fill your empty heart with the love of a Boston.
Life Link... To Save A Life
Who will love me when I'm old?
My life is not over, nor my story told
There are years to come I need to give of my love,
What has become of my life, why have I lost my home?
I'm past the beginning, in the best years of my life.
So full of love and devotion, this should be the best of times.
Where are the arms that held me, and the gentle hands that caressed?
Why am I for forsaken works of love, I've done my very best.
I'm fearful of the darkness that closes in on me at night,
And scared of the emptiness that fills my heart in the day's light.
Is this now what my life shall forever and always be?
Is there no one who cares enough to share their life and comfort me?
I may not live forever, but I can bring joy and life to your empty home,
for the time we share together, means we will never be alone.
I promise to smile and brighten each and every day, to get you know YOU are loved,
Will you take me home, hold me in your arms and fill my empty heart?
